INFORMATION
WHAT IS THE ORDER OF THE DRAGON?
The Order of the Dragon is a Christian chivalric fraternal organization established on December 12th 2025. It is a modern revival of the original order founded on December 12th, 1408 by Sigismund of Luxembourg, King of Hungary and Croatia and later Holy Roman Emperor and Barbara von Celje Queen of Hungary and Croatia and later Holy Roman Empress. We are dedicated to the mental and physical fitness of our Brothers and Sisters, charitable acts and the preservation of Christendom.
I. When you become a Knight of the Order, you set aside all personal ambitions, desires, wishes and politics to uphold the Holy obligation you made to God, the Order, and your community. God commands obedience to just government and woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
II. When Peter and the apostles were detained not by force, for teaching the people, were brought before the council. And the high priest questioned them saying "We strictly charged you not to teach in his name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us." Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at is right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."
PHYSICAL FITNESS
I. One of the vital parts of the Holy obligation you make is to better yourself and to help your Brothers and Sisters do the same. Physical fitness is apart of your journey to becoming a better man or woman. Physical fitness reduces the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. We practice physical fitness through general exercise, yoga, and combat sport, specifically HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). Upon acceptance into the Order one is expected to reach the minimum fitness requirement within one year. Members will be evaluated on an annual basis as a part of a larger evaluation that will demonstrate not only your commitment to your Brothers and Sisters, but also their commitment to you.

II. In some circumstances exemptions can be made on a case by case basis for the inability to meet the minimum fitness standard. An example being physical limitations beyond ones control. Sometimes ones character and desire to commit overshadow their body's physical capabilities.

III. THE FITNESS STANDARD

I. 2.5 km Run - A member must be able to complete a 2.5km run in 17 minutes.
II. Push-ups - A member must be able to perform a minimum of 30 consecutive push-ups.
III. Sit-ups - A member must be able to perform a minimum of consecutive 30 sit-ups.
IV. Bench Press - A member must be able to perform a minimum of 5 reps of 150lbs.
V. Pull ups - A member must be able to perform a minimum of 5 unassisted pullups.

IV. HEMA - HISTORICAL EUROPEAN MARTIAL ARTS
I. What is Historical European Martial Arts and why do we practice it?​ HEMA are the martial systems of Europe reconstructed and revived from ancient manuals (treatises) from the 14th century and onwards, covering weapons like the longsword, dagger, polearms, and unarmed combat such as wrestling. This sport is practiced globally as a competitive sport and historical study. Practitioners translate old texts, interpret techniques and practice with modern protective equipment, often competing in sparring matches to test their understanding.

II. We practice Historical European Martial Arts to foster friendly competition, conquer fears, gain confidence, physical, and mental discipline, and for historical study so that we might better understand a little of what Knights of the Middle Ages experienced.

BACKGROUND CHECK
I. Those wishing to join the Order of the Dragon must undergo a comprehensive criminal background check. Having a criminal record may not be an automatic disqualification, however will be considered on a case by case basis contingent on the severity of the offense and the recurrence. Any applicant who has been charged and convicted of any crimes against women and children are automatically disqualified and need not apply.

II. Applicants must provide a minimum of three character references who've known you for at least five years, who are not close relatives or co-workers, and can attest to your reliability and character for membership. Your reference information must be filled out and completed on the application form. All three references must be contacted before an application can be processed. References can be community leaders, long-time friends, mentors, teachers, or existing members of the Order. Remember to ask permission before listing someone as a reference.

III. There will be an application fee to cover the costs of the Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and Canadian Criminal Record Check (CRC).
ACTIVE POLICE AND MILITARY
I. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot accept applications from active duty police or military personnel. Under normal circumstances we would be thrilled and honoured to have you as Brothers and Sisters of the Order, however the values and principles of the Order will be in conflict with your duties to the organizations in which you belong. We value and defend the Christian Faith and the freedom to practice and express our faith without fear of persecution and prosecution.
II. With the current Federal Government an amendment to eliminate the religious exemption clause from Canada’s hate speech legislation in Section 319 (3) (b) of the Criminal Code. This initiative is intended to garner support for Bill C-9, titled ‘An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda, hate crime, and access to religious or cultural places).’ The current provision in the Criminal Code slated for removal states: “(3) No person shall be convicted of an offence under subsection (2) […] (b) if, in good faith, the person expressed or attempted to establish by an argument an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text.” We greatly oppose this pending amendment that will have the potential to turn Gods works into "hate speech" and thus a indictable offence under the Criminal Code.

IV. Should you no longer be an active serving member of the military or a police agency and can demonstrate that you have been discharged from service and you wish to become a Knight of the Order we will with sincerity of heart accept, process and consider your application for membership.

As we have just re-established the Order on December 12th, 2025, At this time we only have one club location. We seek to expand the Order elsewhere in Canada and abroad. You can look on the map below to see our location in Québec, Canada.
THE GRAND COMMANDERIE OF CANADA is the Orders first chapter and is located in the Eastern Townships of Québec, Canada.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BECOME A MEMBER?
Aside from the small application fee to cover the costs of the comprehensive background check, monthly membership dues will be collected to help fund charitable activities and club activities like camping, sports and marketing materials. The dues vary depending on rank or office within the Order.
